: : : : : : : : : : Does anyone know when CiF will release the new divisions for Basketball? Does anyone have a take on how football is creating CiF this year?
: : : : : : : : : : Any and all answers appreciated.
: : : : : : : : : :Basketball divisions will be released sometime in December.
: : : : : : : : : Football divisions will be using a power point system based on current season data only and will release divisions at the end of the season.
: : : : : : : : Thank you for you information. Do you think Basketball will ever get to where Football is with their selection process?
: : : : : : : :Yes, the hope is basketball divisions will be done like football in the next 1-2 years.
: : : : : : Will there be a high school season this year? Please give me an honest answer.. Iím getting super worried
: : : : : Fauci sounds very optimistic about the vaccine being deployed by March, so there will be some sort of basketball season. Although without fans, I wouldn't expect the City Section to have playoffs or tournaments of any kind.
: : : : : Any Southern Section school wanting to be in a potential playoff bracket without fans would probably have to foot more of the bill than usual.
: : : : : All fans may have to watch it at home, streamed on those little security camera thingies you see center court at every private school.
: : : : :There will be some sort of season come March, but it will obviously look much different than what we usually expect.
: : : hello, im just curious if the guy with the name CIF is actually with the cif or if he's just using that asa name? I ask because im curious if you actually have inside knowledge. Does looking different mean no fans or altered schedule or no playoffs?
: : Probably not with CIF, but no vaccine = no fans, you don't need inside info for that. Perhaps this is why the CIF isn't playing until March, as not having fans could really break the athletics budget in some places. It's not just fans, but fundraising is being affected as well.
: What is your honest opinion then? obv so much is in the air..does Basketball play a full schedule? with modifications, no fans etc?
Private schools will likely have parents who are vaccinated or tested at games, probably some students as well.
Public schools outside of the City Section will vary by district, but inside of LA, many of the gyms are too small to have any significant crowd if social distancing is enforced.
This of course assumes that indoor gatherings above 25 are still permitted by then, otherwise it's an empty gym, two refs, one scorer, two coaches, and ten players per team. Then I think City Section and some public districts go league-only, with no playoffs.
Tournaments would have to charge $20-$25 or more for single day general admission to turn a profit with a gym at 25% capacity, and if somehow there were no fans, I'd expect only local tournaments for most.
