: This means no high school basketball this year in CA, you can't rationalize shutting down churches where there have been only 650 cases nationwide "possibly" attributed to church attendance ,less than .02 of 1 percent and then pretend it is ok to play basketball.
: What might change is: Moderna may have a vaccine out as early as Oct , Pfizer too, AstraZeneca is also looking at Oct/Nov, all 3 h are entering phase III trials and the Trump administration has fast tracked by having them ramp up production and disbursement supplies.

That's the good. The bad news is vaccines are less effective if any virus is circulating in large quantities, as Corona is now. In that case, this becomes a "shot" rather than a vaccine, at least in the short term. It is imperative for Americans to stop large gatherings of ALL kinds. Otherwise, we have to wait until Spring for sports, even with a shot.

Sure the media states there is no proven link between large outdoor gatherings and COVID, but there wouldn't be - many people didn't bring their phones, making contact tracing impossible. And even if the protests magically caused no new infections, just seeing crowds of 100k had a psychological effect on stir-crazy citizens whose financial future was suddenly in doubt due to lockdowns. Also, any religious person who hadn't been to church in months, then sees large gatherings praised by the media, is apt to believe Rush Limbaugh and OAN conspiracy theories. College age kids see young people out and figure their age group must be invincible - especially after being told all those gatherings *officially* did not help spread Coronavirus.
