: : : : : : : Word around the MD & SM campuses is a target date of 6/15. Seems unlikely. What are the other privates doing? Publics? Any other dates out there?
: : : : : : Well, people are letting their guards down for this holiday weekend. So thereís a good possibility we see a spike in 2-3 weeks. If that happens, thatís right around 6/15 so I donít see anything happening.
: : : : : New hospitalizations aren't up in Georgia a month after letting their guard down, but mass gatherings are probably not a great idea.
: : : : : School might be the largest gathering permitted, and will probably need to be staggered.

: : : : private schools will start to go back for sports in the summer. Their dead period was May 25-June 12
: : : : June 13 will most likely look like staggered workouts, with social distancing. How football will do it no one knows, that will be hard. Start small, control groups and then see how it goes. If you can do it with a small amount of athletes you cant do it with you the entire student body. So here comes the beta test.
: : : You can't use the COVID-19 shutdown period as your dead period.
: : Dead period can begin after their school has ended. All school was done online of course. If the person that posted school ended on May 24, they certainly can begin dead period on May 25.
: : We originally set our dead period for June 29 - July 12, back in action on July 13. That would give our winter sports the chance for summer league while also giving fall sports some good workouts in June and then getting ready for opening night on July 13. When Covid-19 hit though, we, like everyone else chose the first 2 weeks of our summer since we wouldn't be able to do much during that time anyway. Our school's final day is June 4, so our dead period will begin on June 5.
: Looting going on today - country in turmoil - pandemic has killed 100K - Fall will see Flu and Coronavirus both - there is NO way HS sports will be returning this year/.
Looting isn't anything, compared to anarchy. The military doesn't even see this as a crisis worthy of deployment. National Guard was more than enough to restore order, despite their somewhat draconian response at times.
There is talk of most sports returning in spring for the SS, but City may just play league and jump straight to playoffs. Fans and even parents may have to use streaming services set up by the host school. Refs would wear masks, coaches too. Outdoor basketball is another possibility for private schools, Brentwood has great outdoor courts. Some places could install wooden floors if precautions can be taken against the weather.
The virus will rebound in the fall, and strike earlier in flu season this year. But contact tracing, testing, and temperature checks along with digital surveillance can contain it. If Vietnam stopped the disease in its tracks despite sharing a border with China, the rest of the world will too. New York is the only place that ever really got out of hand, but knowing the virus doesn't thrive on surfaces gives many smaller communities peace of mind.
