: : Thoughts on 2026-27 releaguing proposals voted on today at CIF meeting for west San Gabriel Valley?
: :

: Keppel Girls are the ultimate winner, avoided the move to the Rio Hondo/Pacific Conference where they would have gotten some competitive league games.

: Instead they get all the terrible mission valley league teams since Gabrielino was sent to the Rio Hondo League

Marshall Fundamental should have stayed in the new Almont/Mission Valley league/conference and Keppel go to Pacfic/Rio Hondo, instead Marshall also goes with Gabrielino to the new Pacific/Rio Hondo league/conference.

Rosemead which lost in CIFSS 5A girls basketball title game this year to Gabrielino after beating Gabrielino twice in league may not makw playoffs anymore starting in two years with new league. It probably will be Keppel, El Rancho, then followed by Bell Gardens, Schurr and then the rest of the teams.

The meetimgs of athletic directors to determine which schools play in which league groups for every sport should be time consuming and very interesting. Not the best time to be an AD for the same pay. Putting together 12 schools or more in a league instead of 6 will make it harder with more schools campaigning for each sport. Double the work and issues.

Sports are important for all levels. It's proven many times every year that many students in sports do better in the classroom not because they have to so they stay eligible but because they want to be part of a team and all the great team experiences regardless of team level and won and loss record.
