: : : CIF changed a previous ruling which now allows a player to play both club and high school during the upcoming season. Glad to see this happen for both programs.
: : I think its a bad idea. Too much wear and tear on a young person's body. Kids need to choose its either club basketball this year or high school. If they do both and get injured there goes both. Focus on one and focus on schooling too. Getting an education is more important than basketball. Of course, we wouldn't be in this predicament had we re-opened sooner and got our kids back to school like everyone else in this country. Oh well, can't wait to read about the kids tearing ACLs because mommy and daddy wants their little girl to be a star by doing both club and high school ball.
: I completely agree. Doing both is not wise. You are talking School, HS ball and club ball. That has disaster written all over it. Below is some insider 411:
: If there is a HS season kids should choose HS. I KNOW FOR CERTAIN they are going to push the April and May viewing periods back so all viewing will in July. MY BROTHER IS A D1 COACH AND THEY WERE INFORMED OF THIS. If there is a HS season you will not need club until then. Do not let the money men club directors fool you into thinking its now or never.
: If there is no HS season then stay in club. No need to go to your limited outdoor workouts, no defense, no scrimmage, no sharing a ball with your HS team. Go where you can get better and play. Clubs will still be playing so stay there
: Hope this helps.

To be clear, there hasn't been any official NCAA announcements about viewing periods being pushed back to July, but I agree that there's no need to rush into a big club commitment until the NCAA has announced when exactly the viewing periods will be in 2021. I personally think we will see viewing before July. There hasn't been a true viewing period since July 2019 and college coaches are itching to get out there again. Your brother may have heard speculation but since the NCAA hasn't decided what to do yet he certainly doesn't have any inside information.
