: : : : : : Does anyone know of any event where COVID-testing is required before a high school basketball player can compete?

: : : : : Nobody does COVID testing. They barley taking temps at some events. These parents are exposing their kids for what. No coaches watching. Just people hosting events to put money in their pockets.

: : : : Agreed. We're putting our kids at risk for profit. Shameful and sad, IMHO.

: : : Kids aren't at risk

: : Read the recent stats - they are at risk and we still don't know what the longterm effects might be.

: Read them, have you? Kids aren't at risk. We do know the long term effects. We just don't know how long they will last. We do know that people with minor cases suffer no lasting effects. The people with long lasting effects are those that got seriously ill and doctors are saying that the long lasting affects have as much to do with the treatments they received as with the virus itself. It has been reported in the New England Journal of Medicine that too often the treatments being given to patients are harming them more than the virus. In the end, kids almost never have serious cases and therefore their lives and long term health are at no risk.

It's not just kids that almost never have serious cases. It's young healthy athletes as well. If you are under 40 and in very good shape you don't have much to fear from COVID (or most other health issues either).
