: Two of the nation's top underclassmen shined in an entertaining, fast-paced showdown Saturday as Windward, ranked No. 8 in the state by Cal-Hi Sports, secured a 69-56 intersectional victory at No. 19 Cathedral Catholic.

: Windward freshman JuJu Watkins scored 31 points, including 20 in the first half, in addition to 12 rebounds and four steals for Windward (14-3).

: During the Wildcats' four-game winning streak, Watkins has 124 points, including a career-high 36 in Wednesday's 76-35 nonleague victory against Fairmont Prep.

: Cathedral Catholic sophomore Isuneh "Ice" Brady had a career-high 36 points, including 21 of the Dons' 28 in the second half, to go along with 15 rebounds and five blocks.

: The difference was the supporting cast for Watkins, who led three Windward players in double figures.

: Itzel "Izzy" Navarro was the second-highest scorer with eight points for Cathedral Catholic (8-9), which played without UC Davis signee Mazatlán "Mazzie" Harris.

: Gonzaga commit McKayla Williams added 16 points and 12 rebounds for Windward, with junior Michelle Duchemin contributing 10 points and 12 rebounds. Maya Stokes scored eight points for the Wildcats.

: Cathedral Catholic held a six-point lead early in the second quarter, before Windward closed the half by scoring 21 of the final 25 points to grab a 39-28 advantage at the break.

: Brady scored 12 of Cathedral Catholic's 14 third-quarter points to cut the deficit to 49-42 entering the fourth.

: But Windward opened the final quarter with eight unanswered points in the first two minutes and the Dons never got closer than 11 the rest of the way.

: Although Cathedral Catholic boasts a sub-.500 record with a month left in the regular season, the Dons' nine losses include a pair of setbacks to Long Beach Poly, twice to Orangewood Academy, La Jolla Country Day, Sierra Canyon, Windward, Etiwanda and Clovis West, teams with a combined 107-20 record.
