Lily Buggs had 16 points and 14 rebounds, leading four Long Beach Poly players in double figures in the nonleague victory over visiting Corona Centennial (14-3), which had its seven-game winning streak snapped in a showdown involving two of the state's top seven teams according to Cal Hi-Sports.
Yaddie Lamb added 15 points, 11 in the second half, for the Jackrabbits (11-2), who received 12 and 11 points, respectively, off the bench from Simone Morris and Nala Williams to extend its winning streak to five in a row.
Jayda Curry led Centennial with 12 points and 10 rebounds, but was 3 of 18 from the field. Bella Law, Sydni Summers and Brook Svoboda all added nine points for the Huskies, who were tied 39-39 with 1:45 remaining in the third, before Poly scored the final five points of the quarter, as part of a 13-3 run during a four-minute span.
Centennial, which missed 11 free throws, wasn't able to get closer than eight points at any point during the fourth quarter.
Katherine Davis contributed six points and 10 rebounds for the Huskies, with Ashlee Lewis scoring six points for Poly, which used a 9-0 run in the third quarter to overcome a 30-28 deficit.
