: : Division 4AA has a lot of parity and is very difficult to rank. I think that any of the top 30-35 teams can defeat anyone else on a given night or go on a run of success in the playoffs, which should be quite interesting. This is just my attempt to rank the teams, based on results as of 12/31/20. A lot of splitting hairs in a division with so much parity.

: : Top 30
: : 1. Paloma Valley (14-2)
: : 2. La Salle (13-2)
: : 3. Westlake (11-5)
: : 4. Holy Martyrs (10-1)
: : 5. Inglewood (11-5)
: : 6. Ontario Christian (14-2)
: : 7. Orange Vista (8-6)
: : 8. Xavier Prep (10-2)
: : 9. Notre Dame (Riverside) (13-4)
: : 10. Montclair (10-1)
: : 11. Heritage Christian (6-7)
: : 12. Buena Park (10-3)
: : 13. Santa Clara (9-5)
: : 14. Golden Valley (6-7)
: : 15. Bassett (8-2)
: : 16. Garey (9-4)
: : 17. Bloomington Christian (8-1)
: : 18. Calabasas (9-4)
: : 19. San Marcos (14-2)
: : 20. Pilibos (12-3)
: : 21. Citrus Valley (5-5)
: : 22. Highland (8-8)
: : 23. Serrano (9-3)
: : 24. Moreno Valley (10-4)
: : 25. Heritage (8-7)
: : 26. Godinez (10-6)
: : 27. St. Pius X-St. Matthias (10-8)
: : 28. Santiago/GG (6-8)
: : 29. Portola (9-5)
: : 30. Pasadena Poly (8-3)

: : I think Paloma Valley is deserving of a #1 ranking at this point. They have played a pretty tough schedule and are 14-2. They lost a game on 12/26 to JSerra (Division 1) by 6. They were down big after one and went on to outscore them over the final three quarters to lose by only 6. Their other loss was to Serra of San Diego. They won their last game by ten over a very good Sonora team (also Division 1).

: : I really like Westlake and think they have been overlooked…they weren’t in the last rankings. They are 11-5 having played the toughest schedule in the division among the top teams. They have quality wins over Grace Brethren, Diamond Ranch, Oak Park, Canyon/CC (ranked #16 in 2AA), and Santa Ynez. Their losses are to ranked teams, Royal, Mira Costa and Valencia/Val., in addition to two losses to St. Bonaventure (2A). Against 4AA teams, Westlake has wins over Notre Dame Academy (+44), Marymount (+29) and Santa Clara (+14).

: : A good argument can be made to justify Westlake at #1 or #2, but I have La Salle at #2 for now. La Salle has wins over two of the teams that beat Westlake (Royal and Mira Costa), plus quality wins over Maranatha and Providence. They lost their last two games to Westchester (-6) and Oaks Christian (-19).
: : Holy Martyrs has two wins over Providence this season and a 16 point win over Pasadena Poly. They only lost by four points to Crean Lutheran (ranked #1 in Division 3AA) on 12/28, which was a very good result for them.

: : A huge game in Division 4AA takes place on 1/2/20 at the Avalon Tournament: Holy Martyrs vs. Xavier Prep.

: I know Buena Park has a transfer from the Los Alamitos meltdown. She's expected to be a big help. I'm not sure if she is enough to put them over the top but she will probably stand out in 4AA.

Buena Park is an interesting team. They were down for many years, usually finishing last in the Freeway League before turning it around a couple years ago. They have a new coach this year, with their most recent coach now at Whitney. They won their division of the Savanna Tournament, including a 10 point win over Newport Harbor and beating Bassett by 13. It will be tough for them to crack Troy and Sonora at 1-2 in league. They will likely battle Sunny Hills for third place.
