: : : : Division 2A is where you start to see the competitiveness of the divisions pick up. You have a lot of teams that had previous playoff success in this division including 2 CIF Champions from last year. The move up in divisions shouldn't impact them too badly but the teams in Division 2A are much better than the teams in the lower divisions last season. Division 2A is loaded with teams that come from some of the top and most competitive leagues in Southern California. So this division is pretty much up for grabs.

: : : : Here are my rankings:

: : : : 1. Warren
: : : : 2. Diamond Ranch
: : : : 3. Burbank Burroughs
: : : : 4. Mayfair
: : : : 5. Northview
: : : : 6. Colony
: : : : 7. Leuzinger
: : : : 8. Maranatha
: : : : 9. Arroyo Valley
: : : : 10. Bishop Amat
: : : : 11. Whittier Christian
: : : : 12. St. Bonaventure
: : : : 13. Summit
: : : : 14. El Rancho
: : : : 15. Lakewood
: : : : 16. University
: : : : 17. Tustin
: : : : 18. Yucaipa
: : : : 19. Peninsula
: : : : 20. Newbury Park
: : : : 21. Cathedral City
: : : : 22. San Clemente
: : : : 23. Oaks Christian
: : : : 24. Sunny Hills
: : : : 25. Walnut
: : : : 26. Cantwell Sacred Heart
: : : : 27. South Torrance
: : : : 28. Oak Hills
: : : : 29. Culver City
: : : : 30. Tesoro
: : : : 31. Rancho Cucamonga
: : : : 32. Dana Hills
: : : : 33. Upland
: : : : 34. Segerstrom

: : : Didn't Maranatha's leading scorer transfer out? They had a great season last year but I heard she left the program, that'll probably drop them a bit. I think Whittier Christian who is in their own league and finished higher than them last year will do so again.

: : Yes Maranatha's leading scorer transferred to Village Christian. Also Maranatha has a new coach too. I had Maranatha as my #1 team in Division 2A before I dropped them to #8 because of those reasons. Also, Whittier Christian and Maranatha split last season in league. Whittier Christian is going to be good but lost their 2 leading rebounders and their height. Maranatha losing their leading scorer from last season is going to hurt them but I think they will be alright still. You could flip flop those two if you want but I think Maranatha still has a slight edge.

: Maranatha added 6 3 all-CIF center from Knight...so that
: will help them Im sure..

According to their current roster listed in MaxPreps - missing from last year's Maranatha roster which went finished 2nd in their league (20-9 overall) and lost in the 4AA Quarterfinals are their

coach (new coach - no idea which one is better)
Leading scorer - 14.3 a game (transferred to the 3rd place team in league)
2nd leading scorer - 10.6 a game
3rd leading scorer - 10.3 a game
4th leading scorer - 7.1 a game
5th leading scorer - 6.8 a game

All of those kids were underclassman, no clue why they all left - but I bet it is extremely difficult to predict what they will be this year based on their performance from last season considering their top 5 scorers and their coach from last season are all gone.

Now did they reload, I have no clue, there are some names on the roster not from last season, maybe they are All-CIF type transfers but how many did they get in and will they gel. Maybe they do have a new great guru at the helm who will take them to even greater heights than last year's run. I just know last year's team of all underclassman who made a great run will not be the same kids who do it for them this year. I guess we will see starting tomorrow when they play another 2A team in Yucaipa.
