: My daughter has a friend on her team that hasn't been cleared yet by CIF. It says processing on the CIF website and has said that now for about 3 weeks with no changes. They start playing games on Monday, any chance her friend will be cleared by then? How long does this usually take, her friend transferred in at the beginning of the school year. Should the school do like Memphis (and James Wiseman) and just play her and hope it gets sorted out at some point?

:: The transfer process can be a long and frustrating one. But it usually doesn't pay to play the transferring player before receiving word from CIF. The process is completely arbitrary and subjective, with a lot of different factors. The main one can be the cooperation of the school the player is leaving. If they don't support the move, then they'll slow play their sign off or deny it altogether which will cause the loss of the season for the player. And the more high profile
the player or school, the more uncooperative they can be. The transferring player just has to sit tight, and continue practicing. To play the person in games just puts the entire
season at risk for the other players who are working hard too.
