Come on dude --chill with how you are scolding the parents. I coach and have serious sympathy for parents--paying $40 in gas to go to a gym on a Saturday, $10-$20 to park, $10-15 to get in and then $8.00 per kid, $3-$4 for a bottle of water, triple the normal cost for snacks, and then they finally sit down and watch a game full of 3rd - 8th graders and now even high schoolers that last what 28 minutes???? These venues rarely turn on the AC, their kids play on teams filled with 8-11 players so they play like 8-15 minutes per game in total. Then if one team goes up by 20 the game is shortened even further. Now us as coaches are scrambling to get all of our kids in during the second half. Not to mention, we as coaches show up to some of these tournaments with a certain grade level team and get thrown into a game with teams one or two years older or younger than our kids. I get what you are saying-"just take your kids out of sports" but there really has to be a discussion to be had here. These tournament directors have to do better. I am also tired of only going to one or two venues but where are there good tournaments now? I like OGP, SGV, WCP, OC Rhythm, and CAl Sparks tournaments for girls , good comp, quality refs, etc. But every weekend, not all of these guys are putting on tournaments, it usually others that I will not name.
