: : : : : : : : : : Any news out of the first weekend of Burroughs league? Any surprises? Standouts?

: : : : : : : : : : What did u want to know? No surprises or standouts?

: : : : : : : : I can't comment on the small gym as I was only in the main gym

: : : : : : : : Saugus won both games easy. Poor competition but team is improved. Will be decent.

: : : : : : : : Knight lost to Saugus. Didn't see the second game but they have a ways to go AND SEEM TO BE DOWN

: : : : : : : : Oaks and Burroughs was a solid game. Oaks only has three players. Not deep at all. They are ordinary at best. They did beat Burroughs in a close one. Burroughs struggles to score and doesn't have much height but always plays tough

: : : : : : : : Saugus killed Beverly Hills. Cant believe that BH has only six players so not sure what to make of them.

: : : : : : : : Brentwood killed Schurr and Notre Dame. Not a bad with solid guards but the teams they played weren't very good. Brentwood very small

: : : : : : : : Sierra Canyon beat Camarillo by 20. Sierra looks like a power. They had lots of players and should be top open team. Camarillo is decent. Couldn't hang with them

: : : : : : : : Granada Hills looks very good. They also beat Camarillo. This could be their year for CIF. I like them. They have height and good solid guards.

: : : : : : : : Alemany beat Canyon. Alemany is great. Tons of size. Athletes. Cant wait for Alemany Sierra matchup. Canyon is huge and should win their league. I know they were missing their great PG. Good teams

: : : : : : : : Not a lot of close games. Just Burroughs. All were blowouts for the most part. Hope to see better games next week.

: : : : : : : Sorry you wasted your day at Burroughs. You could tell by looking at the schedule that the games were not going to be any good. It is not anybodys fault because none of the top teams want to play each other because they are afraid of losing. Or don't want to play anybody good because wins are more important than having adversity. Oh well...hopefully the games get better. But after all it is just fall league basketball.

: : : : : : Or you really have a negative attitude. I enjoyed watching basketball. Blowouts or not. Im sure the games will get better but there was really only two elite teams. My bet is they will play each other. Anyone who knows the top teams know they are never afraid of playing the best. You might want to try taking some of the positive Kool aid.

: : : : :
: : : : : I'm in the middle of these last two posters. Don't want to be negative, but also want to realize that A) it's fall league and B) it wasn't a day packed with the "best teams" in the area.

: : : : :
: : : : : Sierra - of course they are loaded. Aren't they always? Assuming everyone was there they are going to blow out most teams because they are just better. Only issue they (and most teams) have is depth. Just remember for the coming weeks - Komaki doesn't care about fall league. Everyone plays a lot. Sometimes she let's players coach. Also, in coming weeks they may be missing players on college visits.

: : : : : Alemany - another loaded team. And they did that with Hardy not there as she was on her official at Long Beach State. Question - was the big guard from France still there and did she play? Also, has their style changed at all with new coach?

: : : : : Canyon - If PG wasn't there, they can't hang with elite teams. Not enough scoring. Bowers has improved tremendously, but they need the leadership and court spacing ability of the PG.

: : : : : Granada Hills - this is their best team. Mitchell is solid PG and good leader. Miranda can be very effective, but is sometimes inconsistent. Have a great shooter up from JV. Their issue every year is athleticism and defense. City is wide open this year with them, El Camino, Carson, and Fairfax.

: : : : : Camarillo - interesting team. Lost three of 4 top scorers from last year. Richey is a smart, effective player. Top 2 3 pt shooters are gone, so the two frosh from last year need to step up. I would want to play them fast and see if I can tire them out.

: : : : : Brentwood - small but very well coached. Unfortunately for them, they are in same league as Sierra Canyon and Windward. So their goal is build up team and get ready for playoffs. Like the frosh guard a lot.

: : : : : Burroughs - tale of two teams. Coach gets everything she can out the girls, but when the big girl isn't there because of volleyball, they struggle to score. Their physical play keeps them in games, but in the end, you have to be able to put the ball in the hoop.

: : : : Hard to draw any conclusions off of fall the league. Most of the good players don't even play or might play a game or two. Don't get too happy if you have a full squad and beat up on teams without their best players. It means nothing.

: : :
: : : Exactly.

: :
: : : Sorry that both you guys teams lost. There's always next week. Do better next time. Less excuses, more focus on playing and enjoying the game. You can't always win, so what if you got blown out, it happens sometimes. Chillaxin

: R-E-L-A-X -- I know most of these teams and can tell you quite a few were missing pieces and a couple have not done one thing since summer ended....

Only saw a few games, I'm sure many were missing players. As far as I know Alemany was down 2, Canyon was full squad, Sierra was full squad, Camarillo not sure, Granada not sure, looked to be full squad.
