: : : Johnson is injured a lot but she would have
: : : made the other team bigs work harder and
: : : expend energy.
: : : ..have to agree though, you are right, with
: : : Torbert even at 75% and playing, MD wins by
: : : 9-10 pts.
: : With Torbert playing they would of been in the SS Open Final and would have not lost to Harvard Westlake by 1 point. Would of been tough to beat Poly and really tough in State Open. She was playing great and dominating the game until she got injured, HW had no answer for her. If healthy, she SHOULD be the best post player in SoCal. Johnson gain a lot of High D1 interest over the summer due to her play. If healthy, she should have her best career year.
: Poly would have dismantled Mater Dei last year if they would have played. Clark and Jones would have eaten Tolbert alive. Just look at what Poly did against Frierson from Millikan. By the way, Frierson from Millikan dropped 33 points on Tolbert and Mater Dei. Poly's guards would have just manhandled Mater Dei's. Poly was in a league of their own and no one down here would have touched them. Clovis West had the better players, matched Poly's depth and a smart coach.
Yes, You're probably right. I never said Mater Dei would have beaten Poly, I stated that they would have made the CIF SS Open Finals if Torbert wasn't hurt. In the game of basketball anything is possible, all it takes is 1 bad game. Poly and Clovis West were loaded, with each having at least 4 Division 1 seniors. They deserved to play for SoCal Finals, they were the better teams. Clovis had an amazing year and have a great coach, glad they won state.
