: : : : : : : : : : Already committed to Oregon St. and she's 6'9". Strange she'd come from New Jersey to Southern California when she's going to OSU. Originally from Paraguay, the UCLA/USC fit might have been better than OSU.

: : : : : : : : : And why the circus that is Ribet?

: : : : : : : : : That makes no sense.

: : : : : : : : Ribet's a decent secular private but it also has a large Latino student body. I know that sounds strange but a young girl from Paraguay who is 6'9 and still learning to speak English might feel more comfortable there than, say, Windward.

: : : : : : : : Ribet is a boarding school so they can offer a dorm for her to stay. So I think that's part of the reason why.

: : : : : : other schools have stronger BB and solid international student programs/homestays (SM, JSerra, Fairmont Prep)

: : : : : None of those schools have a large Hispanic student base. That could be important to an ESL student who is admittedly very uncomfortable about her height.

: : : : : But who knows, maybe she and her family just felt it was the right fit. She was living with a relative in NJ so maybe she has some family close by in DTLA.

: : : : Mater Dei is 40% hispanic...just sayin...

: : : There are no living facilities at MD.

: : I suspect Mater Dei has homestay or other ways to make it work (eg: Wang/boys BB)

: From everything I know about the school, there is nothing LARGE about Ribet, especially school population of any race/ethnicity. They do, however, have a pipeline to their school. As you can see, it's a pretty good pipeline. That's why she is going there. They just haven't figured out the formula to keep players there for a full four years. There is a disconnect there with someone or some group. Never ask the question of why again... you've been told and that answer will be there the next time you ask it. The pipeline into Ribet is strong. That's it... Crazy.... 6'9" is amazing though.

Aquino will be a senior so being there four years won't matter. From the stats, Ribet's racial distribution is: White 33.4%, Asian 27.1%, Hispanic 22.2%. African American 9.2%, two or more 1.2%. Nothing large but shockingly even distribution at a private. Despite the "pipeline", this is the first elite prospect at Ribet I've heard of. If there are others, I don't know of them.

She'll be the second highest ranked Ca player after Decosta and the highest ranked Socal player by a large margin.
