: ::: Sorry, but the MD elite distortion field is at work again. It's Adams all over again. Decent player yes, and hard worker (though just a wee bit cocky on the court) but not the dominant elite force that the MD hype machine portrayed.
Mater Dei will always be a powerhouse for one simple reason: Kids would rather step into greatness rather than create their own. Creating their own greatness would take actual effort. I don't blame these elite kids for surrounding themselves with other great players... but the state of basketball right now is at an all time low because of teams like this. More than half of the kids on MD's bench even in their "down" year could play on a majority of high school varsity teams and make an impact (instead of just sitting on an 18 person bench becoming a cheerleader) Demetre will do well because she's a 6'2 guard who took the extra year to develop herself and her game. Everyone else will follow and the minute things go wrong and someone else is in the spotlight, she'll find herself somewhere else.
