: If this is run any thing like the Summer league, steer clear! Over-charged teams to get in, over-charge parent's at the door. Referees can't make to half-court because they workin' 5-6 games in a row or they just dont care. Teams would be better of callin there own fouls.
Hello Parent from a school I won't name, although I know exactly who you are and what school you are with.
"Over charged teams" Well, let's look at that. We charged 350 for one team for 10 games or 650 for 2 teams for 20. The refs cost us 25 per game X 10 = 250. So if you bring one team, we make a total of 100 dollars for the entire summer off that team. If you bring two (like your school did) Then we make a grand total of 50 bucks off the 2 teams and 20 games. Our door charge is consistent with most events and the reason it went up to 5 is because at the end of the day when we crunched the numbers we were just ahead of even after last summer. Now, I know it might be tough to imagine, but we do actually try and run these things to turn a small profit to pay for winter events. The great thing is, if you don't want to come, you don't have to, although I appreciate your continued support.
I have 0 control over the referees that show up. I have had 2 complaints so far about refs that have been dealt with the same day.
In the fall I am running 2 tournaments that cost 100 dollars a team and the refs are 25 dollars still. Each team gets 4 games, so I can save you the math lesson this time, but again we aren't running a charity so (gasp) there will be a door charge that you might not agree with. Please feel free to attend or not, but I would love to see you there supporting your team. We all appreciate passionate fans. Your team has already signed up btw.
