: : : : : Except in the wealthy areas of the LAUSD, an
: : : : : LAUSD education is crap! The system only graduates
: : : : : 65% of their senior classes and that is BETTER
: : : : : than just a few years ago!

: : : : : You have all these kids of illegals that enter
: : : : : the school district that can't even understand
: : : : : English, the parents are no help as they only
: : : : : speak another language and it takes the kids 2-3 years to get competent in the basic english skills to really grasp their educational learning.

: : : : : This in turn is a dis-service to the kids that
: : : : : already know English and want to learn from
: : : : : kindergarden. It is what it is.

: : : :
: : : : I agree with a lot of what you say, but it is true of all public schools not just LAUSD.

: : : : The bottom line is there are good teachers and schools everywhere if you are willing to get to them. Even in LAUSD there are plenty of high quality Magnet programs.

: : : : The point is minimizing the difference between public/private to make the $$$$ not worth it to automatically go private.

: : : The only good coach in the city is the Granada coach. Although, I have to give Judi her props for her second half coaching in the city championship game. She made a ton of adjustments and the coach from the other team didn't make any.

: : So far from the truth. Give Judy props for coaching a group of transfers handed to her. hahaha She couldn't win over the years with what she's had before that. There are a few other coaches that build and develop winning programs not mentioned. You already know who they are.

: Fairfax had one transfer last year. You clearly didn't see her coach in th city finals. They won because of her halftime adjustments.

There may have only been one transfer last year (after 6 the year before) but it was their best player.

And honestly, I didn't see what they changed during the finals - at least offensively. Lair drives to basket - either makes it, gets fouled, dishes to big girl or big girl rebounds miss. Over and over again. I don't think they hit an outside shot until fourth quarter.

If anything, it was the Pali coach who made no adjustments. If they had switched to zone - even in the fourth quarter - they would have won.
