: : : : : : : : : : Have all the openings been filled? who do you think will be the most successful new coach? i really like the elco hire!

: : : : : : : : : Who did El Co hire??

: : : : : : : : rai colton, was all city when he played at elco. Any one of 4-5 teams can win city next year.

: nobody beating fairfax. too talented

: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : His name is Rai (pronounced Ray) Colston. Good guy, strong basketball background.

: : : : : : : Only question is can he make transition to girls? Coaching history is assistant at Elco, Chaminade, Oaks, Adams St - but all on boys/mens side.

: : : : : : I'm sure he can. It isn't like there is a pop or Kerr waiting for him. He might struggle against granda hills, the Granada coach really knows what he's doing. He already seems more qualified than 90% of city coaches. Elco will compete with Granada, fairfax and possibilly Pali depending if they reload next year. City is WIDE open for the first time in years!

: : : : :
: : : : : Not looking to start anything, but just an honest question: Why Fairfax?

: : : : : They only really played six players last year, and three graduated. Lair is one of Top 5 in City for sure, but who else? Her effectiveness will be cut down for sure without Semebene also demanding defensive attention. Good teams will not let her continuously drive to basket and then what? Maybe they are getting some transfers you know about, but as of right now, I don't look at them as a favorite to repeat.

: : : : : Again, just looking for some info.

: : : : Their only big loss is the big. Lair is the most natural dominant scorer in the city and the scott girl is an absolute beast. They have 2 or 3 other very good players. Granada, possibly elco and Pali, narbonne and Carson should all be considered sleepers.

: : : I guess we will see. Lair scores mostly off drives so if you take that away, I would like to see her do something else. Scott has to show she can take the step from supporting frosh to being 2nd best player. I don't remember anyone else from last year as being "really good". And, they have a new coach too. Obviously you are a Fairfax person and are supporting your team. And that's great! You should! But on paper, as of right now, if you step back and take an objective look at it, they shouldn't be considered a favorite. Maybe after they get their usual group of transfers, because no doubt someone is coming.

: : : If I had to pick right now, I would pick Granada vs. El Camino in finals, but both have questions. Is Granada athletic enough? Can El Camino finally be disciplined enough to take the next step with an inexperienced coach? Because 1-9, they are the two deepest teams.

: : : Then there is Pali. They are the wild card. What happens after transfer season? Do they get someone? Do they lose anyone? Lost two players last year - one a starter and one 6th man. So you never know.

: : : As of now I see Carson, Narbonne and Legacy in the second tier.

: : : I see the top four Open seeds being the same teams this year - the only question is the order.

: : It depends how you define deepest. Yes, El Co has the deepest bench of average to good players. Nobody spectacular. Fairfax has 2-3 very to spectacular players. I'll always take the better players. I like granada due to their coach... Carson will surpise teams this year.

:: Pali.
:: Jane Nwaba (Laker player David Nwaba's sister) is just gettin' started. She's got huge upside. Plus, I think Kayla (Williams) will be back? If so, she's poised to come into her own, now that she's a junior and Gipson has moved on.
Plus they just always have players on the bench, in the wings. Top four, Pali, Fairfax, Granada Hills, Carson. GH is always going to be up there due to the superb coaching.
