: : I see so many coaches that dont enter harder tournaments because they dont want to lose games. They also schedule non league games that they can win by 30-40 points. Coaches challenge your kids stop trying to coast to an easy 20 wins when really you season isnt as successful as your record. Strength of schedule matter and you should be trying to out play/out coach other teams.

: So many seeded teams did not make the playoffs because they were under .500. The ultimate goal is to get in the playoffs. You can out coach and out play teams there. If you schedule difficult you are hurting your team on two counts

: 1) Possiblilty of not being .500
: 2) Your strength of schedule becomes strong and that gets you more points which puts you in a higher division for the playoffs.

: Bottom line, in this new flawed system, you do your team a disservice by scheduling difficult. You can schedule a few difficult games but the majority of your games need to be winnable

Earn an automatic spot based on your placement in league and a record of .500 doesn't matter. Unless you are a D-4 school in a league full of D-1 and D-2 schools and you lose all of your league games every year you really shouldn't be trying to schedule wins. And honestly, in my most humble opinion, unless you are Open, D-1 or a small school none of the other playoff titles are worth much.
