: : : : Whats the rationale around not allowing more than (3) tournaments during the year?

: : : Too many games. Every other section allows a maximum number of games at 26. They can play as many tourneys as they want but each game counts as a game. We are going to that next year.

: : : In this format(each tourney counts as two), if you played 4 tournaments you could get up to 31 games. They dont want HS students spending that much time on the court, rather in the classroom. The season is already long enough.

: : Under the three tournament rule I can schedule 29 games.

: : Since the sections allows 20 games, but tournaments count for two, I can schedule three 5 game tournaments, which gives me 15 games, which leaves me 14 more slots to play, or a total of 29.

: : Thus if you played a 4 tournament schedule you could actually get 32 games. Four 5 game tournaments, is 20 games, with each counting for 2 games, leaves 12 slots left, so 32 games.

: : Moving the first game up to beginning of November will be interesting.

: The interesting proposal was to remove the tournament restriction entirely. That would mean a team not in a league could conceivably play 50 games. Of course that was put down immediately

That would have been wild to remove the restriction. Even with a 10 game league season you could play in five 5 game tournaments (if enough existed, which they don't currently) and technically play 35 games before playoffs.

I know there are some large leagues who have 7 and 8 teams in them dislike the 20 game cap because they don't get to have as many home games unless they run their own tournament, or vastly reduce the number of games they play.
