: I have a question for all.
: My daughter just ended her season last week and has been playing club for a few years. We are on a new team this season and we are getting pressure to begin practicing now because they want to play in a tournament this weekend. I have always been a firm believer in allowing her a couple weeks to rest her body and heal. I'd like to give her more than a couple of weeks, but that seems to be out of the question. lol
: Most of my research seems to support that idea when hearing from "experts" and trainers.
: What are some of your thoughts? I am going to stick by my guns, but i am curious if I am in the minority here.
I agree completely you need to let them rest.
If you just finished last week, that means the team was good and has probably been practicing/playing since last June. And she played club on top of that.
When we finished two weeks ago, basically I shut my daughter down except for one training session a weeks and some shooting time. No games, no scrimmages, etc.
Just starting that now.
Some local tournament this weekend isn't worth it. Tell the coach she will come but not play and will start up next week.
