: : Why did MD win even with a big starter and top reserve out?

Okay idiot...once again not talking to myself. Why was Valencia in Division 2 as well? Because that is where they were placed for the state playoffs. Mater Dei made it to the Open Division as the #11 seed. Mater Dei lost by 1 to Harvard-Westlake. Then Mater Dei lost by 4 to Windward in Consolation side of the Open Division. But let me go back to something. Did Valencia make it to the Open Division? Thought so!! Valencia did win an insignificant championship in Division 1AA against inferior competition. CIF handed Valencia their championship. Just look at who Valencia played in the playoffs. I was more impressed with Canyon's run through the playoffs because they actually had to beat some teams to get to the finals of one of the worst championship games I have seen in a long time. Mater Dei won last night because instead of having 1 1/2 players that could do some damage like Valencia, Mater Dei has at least 3 players that can play plus another 2 off of the bench. Like I said yesterday. Mater Dei has guards that they can sub in and keep players fresh meanwhile Valencia has no depth or bench and that is why normally Valencia couldn't beat better teams because of their lack of depth. Valencia has been good for the past 3 years and they had a good year this year but it is now time to fade away and be an insignificant team like Valencia was before.
