: I watched 4 girls games this past weekend and i cant understand
: What the Windward coach was thinking. You set back High school
: Girls Basketball years. Those games should have never been played at the Honda Center. After the Boys games the gym emptied.
: So you have maybe 500 people at a 18,000 set Arena.
: And that helped girls basketball how.
: Those games should have been at APU. Better fit for the girls.
: It was embarassing for the girls and should never happen again.
: You can pretend the girls draw like the boys but we all now that isn't true. Leave the girls alone you did them a dis service and you weren't even in the finals so what are you crying abnout.

: Just my opinion.

It is not the Windward coach's fault that the games were horrible. It is the teams that played at the Honda Center that should be blamed. Come on the games were horrible especially the Canyon versus Valencia game. I was so bored that I actually got on my phone and started watching the games at Azusa Pacific and Godinez, desperately searching for a good game. Those two teams represented Division 1AA and they stunk up the place. That and 80% of the fans at the Honda Center for that game were the Capo Valley-Oxnard fans, which by the way was a horrible game as well.

The Open Division game between Poly and Harvard-Westlake belonged at the Honda Center. Two very good and well-coached teams. If CIF wants to put girls games at the Honda Center then what CIF should do is have the Open Division girls finals there and also move the Open Division Consolation Finals to the Honda Center too. Those games will draw in fans and if CIF wants to add a third place game for the Open Division as well. Since all of those games have seeding implication for state playoffs just have them together.

Also if the boys and girls teams from the same school are playing for a CIF Championship then pair them together or have the girls play at 2 pm and the boys play at 5 pm so you if the fans want to see both games they will pay for a ticket and then stick around and pay for concessions just to stay and watch the later games. There are a lot of options for CIF to fix this problem and they will. Don't blame the Windward coach for anything she put a lot on the line for the girls to play at the Honda Center and maybe 5-10 years down the line what happened this weekend will have a positive impact on the girls game.
