: : : : : : : : Basketball is a High IQ game. VB is 3 basic skills and not every player needs to master them.

: : : : : : : : Basketball is highly skilled game if taught properly. Dribbling, passing, shooting, setting screens, back door cuts, rotations on defense, execution of plays.

: : : : : : : : The sports are totally different. VB is BORINGGGGG! yawn! Pass set spike- over and over again.

: : : : : : : It's better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than open it and remove all doubt - Mark Twain
: : : : : : : : Basketball has such variety, different styles of play. Just a way better sport. Just like American society it is becoming more popular because it is easier and requires less time to develop the 3 major skills.

: : : : : : : : REAL ATHLETES play HOOPS!!!

: : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : Future of the game is in peril. Volleyball is more fun than hoops and easier to learn. Bball skills take way too long to develop. Girls leaving in droves. How can we continue to get the better athletes? Better do something before the girls game is dead.

: : : : : : : : : : : http://www.espn.com/espnw/sports/article/18659764/why-young-athletes-flocking-volleyball-not-basketball-record-numbers?addata=espnw:womenbb:index

: : : : : : : : : : Volleyball and Basketball are BOTH great sports - it depends on the player's personality. For the record - have one basketball player and one volleyball player and neither daughter wanted to play the other sport. BOTH sports take skill and dedication to play at a high level - no need to be negative :)

: : : : : : : : : Volleyball Players don't like physical contact with others and love the net that separates them from their opponent. They also don't like conditioning. What a boring game! Basketball takes a lot of thinking very quickly for a long period of time.

: : : : : : Female Basketball is regarded as a sport for ghetto lesbians. You can argue the two sports' respective merits but the perception is very strong and it definitely influences choices when it comes to what sport to play.

: : : : : : Nothing can be done. Basketball has been on a downswing for at least five years. Check out any high school, middle school or even park and recs league and you'll see how poorly participated girls basketball currently is. Most clubs have consolidated or folded. Many high schools no longer have JV teams. It is what it is. It's cyclical as well.

: : : : : : Girls want to look nice and the boys basketball shorts and jerseys make them look butch. Hair and makeup, forget it.

: : : : : : This is probably coming from a parent who's daughter can't make the cut in b-ball cuz she's too stiff and got no athletic abilities. Lol, don't come on our board just because your daughter don't have it. Just be happy that she's atleast playing some sports even if it's volleyball.

: : : : Some legit points and you make it a personal attack. Judging from your limited English proficiency, you didn't get much past the third grade. So I'll make it easy for you. Perception is everything. Basketball is considered for lesbians and blacks or both. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just how it is. Even Val Ackerman called volleyball a hidden danger in basketball's march to irrelevance. Considering how touchy you are about the subject, I guess your daughter has come out and you're in complete denial about it. There's nothing wrong with it. Accept it and move on.

: : : : Thought so, perfect profile of someone who's daughter can't cut it in b-ball. Coming on here and talking crap bout our sports won't change the fact that your daughter can't ball. It might help you sleep at night but the fact remains, SHE CAN'T BALL. Like you said, accept it and move on. I hope you find peace, smh

: : Oh, so sad snowflake. I don't need to talk crap about girls basketball since it has no popularity. The facts stated above you can't even argue. Basketball amongst girls has gone down the toilet. Participation is nil. Ratings are terrible and the WNBA loses money hand over fist. How ironic that you keep talking about how basketball needs IQ when you can't even put a simple English paragraph together correctly. If you really are interested in the future of the sport, you should try to listen to the argument that Volleyball has passed Basketball in the girls sports community and the reasons. But to some feeble minded "parent" like yourself, there is no argument, only stupid vague attacks. Just once, try to refute any of the stats about the falling popularity of girls basketball. Cite some reports. Anything. You can't. I'm sure your parental pride over the fact that your daughter is playing a sport that no one is interested in or is playing supersedes your interest in her education. Don't worry, just like her parents, she'll soon be asking "want lids with these", while telling everyone about the time she score five points in a high school game.

: :Atleast you recognize that Girls/Women Bball has a professional league - WNBA. Is there one for Volleyball? Enough said, you are pathetic. You should have done a better job when your daughter was young and took her to local park to play some bball. Now you are just full of hate that your daughter can't hack it in bball so you come on to our board to talk crap about a sports our daughters love. What a freekin looser, you should just kill yourself. I hope you don't pass on the same hate to your daughter. Loser!

There are so many points in the piece but you haven't refuted one single item. Nothing. Oh, vague and tired insults. Try responding to the topic instead of trying out insults while you get the free Wifi from McDonalds. But I will admit that there has been no stronger argument for studying hard than your stupid posts.

To get your feeble little third grade educated mind back on track, this is what the article stated. I cut and pasted some of the better parts because your attention span because of your crack addiction is clearly low. You can argue this:

1)Two years ago, for the first time, more high school girls played volleyball (432,176) than basketball (429,504), according to the National Federation of State High School Associations.

2)In 2015-16, volleyball added another 4,133 girls to those numbers, while basketball lost 276 participants.

3) Statistics compiled by the NFHS show an increase of more than 40,000 volleyball players in that span and a decrease of 23,000 basketball players.

4) "There's been a huge African-American crossover into our sport, and it's become the social norm now to play volleyball, whereas 10 or 15 years ago, it was basketball," Texas coach Jerritt Elliott said.

5) The real eye-opener is at the high school level. In 30 states, including most of the West, more girls play high school volleyball than basketball. In fact, volleyball is the #1 girlsí high school participation sport in more states than any other sport.

6) Nationally, 17,000 more girls play high school basketball than volleyball, but that disparity is due almost entirely to just one state: Texas (25,000 more basketball than volleyball.)

7) Former WNBA president Val Ackerman called volleyball a "growing threat to basketball" and Ackermanís exhaustive report lists numerous other ideas to reinvigorate womenís basketball, including a move away from the sportís baggy uniforms and rule changes to discourage the elbow-thrashing and arm-wrestling that has taken over basketball at all levels.

Put down volleyball all you like, but you'd best put down your crack pipe and concentrate on getting your GED. Those are the arguments and I'm sure you won't be able to refute anything and instead make more irrelevant arguments.
