: How much should you take into account an injury to a team when voting this next week?

: A team just recently lost a starter for the season but their last few regular season games are against teams they have already killed and will have no trouble beating again making it difficult to assess the impact on the team. How much should I take the injury into account when voting? I remember way back in the day when Kenyon Martin broke his leg right before the NCAA tourney the committee dropped them from a projected one seed (1-4 overall), to the second line (5-8). Do I drop them on the potential impact of losing a starter or reward them for the season they had as a full squad?

My view of polls is that you vote the teams in order of how good they are at that moment in time.

It's a snapshot.

If I think that Team A would beat Team B on a neutral court, then I vote Team A ahead of them no matter who is playing or not playing.

Now, when it comes to seeding for playoffs, that's when I think the injury really comes into play. Or being ineligible for some reason (grades, etc.).

Because when you are seeding you are projecting performance over several games, and the injury most likely will affect a team more in later rounds so you need to take that into consideration.
