: : : Update
: : : 1. Palisades just need to beat Fairfax again to get the top seed
: : : 2. El Camino lost to Granada tonight, still holding on to the #2 seed
: : : 3. Granada Hills split with El Camino tonight, holding the 3 spot. Waiting for Fairfax and palisades second meeting to lock the 3 or 4 soot
: : : 4. Fairfax remains to be seen if they are the same team with the coaching change. Still trying to figure out why?
: : : 5. Eagle Rock very good team, good Coach, big is good and good shooters
: : : 6. Narbonne barely holding on to this spot, next game 2 weeks could drop them down a spot or two.
: : : 7. Carson playing good ball since the holiday break, beat narbonne Wednesday
: : : 8. Venice/Westchester/Noho/Legacy/Birmingham/Arleta/Garfield/View Park

: : It really is amazing how Fairfax get no credit for having the strongest schedule in City Section and basing their whole playoff seeding off two games.
: : It's really a double standard when it comes to Fairfax. Really what you should be saying is I'm putting Fairfax in the 4th spot because you don't like Fax that sounds better then you discrediting the fact that they beat some good teams and the fact that they have a strong schedule.

:
: I don't know what OP's criteria is.

: When I look at the seeding, I try to follow the weird City formula and look at how they have determined things in the past.

: Let's just take Fairfax vs. El Camino since that is who OP has at 2.

: The first thing looked at is head to head. They haven't played, so that that doesn't matter.

: They look at common opponents - both beat Village Christian and Birmingham (though El Camino won by more). They both lost to Windward.

: They look at league champions - El Camino will be a co-league champ, so it depends who is awarded the top seed out of West Valley League. Fairfax is most likely coming in second (I think Pali wins again next Monday).

: They look at SOS - both teams have strong schedules and have played good SS teams.

: They look at quality wins. Slight edge to Fairfax based on MaxPreps - Fairfax has wins over Redondo and Bishop Montgomery, and El Camino has wins over Millikan, Valley View and Granada Hills. However, it may be argued BM is overrated by computer.

: There are also other formulas - RPI and some secret formula no one but the City knows. So that is a wildcard.

: The history component is City tries not to schedule league opponents against each other until they have to. And they have been known to flip seeds to avoid it (in multiple sports).

: This is why I think the seeding will be:

: 1. Pali
: 2. West Valley Champ (ECR or GH)
: 3. Fairfax
: 4. West Valley Runner-up (ECR or GH)

: Especially if Pali beats Fairfax next Monday, this would avoid a semi-final third rematch with Pali/Fax when Pali has won twice. If Fairfax wants a rematch they will have to get to finals.

: So for me, the drama left is Pali vs. Fairfax next Monday, and who gets top seed out of West Valley league. Had El Camino beat Granada Hills again last Friday, I think that would have sewn up 2 for ECR regardless of who wins next week. But they didn't so we get to debate about this stuff for another couple weeks! LOL

Fairfax also beat brea Olinda
