: : : : When did the private schools sue the CIF
: : : : about re-leaguing?
: : : : If you are talking about the Mater Dei
: : : : lawsuit that had nothing to do about
: : : : releaguing - Was this a different lawsuit?

: : : a few years back there was an attempt made to force Oaks Christian, St Bonaventure and Damien/St Lucy to play in the Catholic Athletic Association (CAA). The schools fought the move over travel issues for non-football sports (eg: St Bonnie would have had to play road games at Damien)-and won. Result: a conference set up for Marmonte football (3 four team leagues) and the new Coastal Canyon league in all other sports-and Damien/St Lucy (which were part of the lawsuit also) in the Baseline League. St Lucy was forced to play Baseline League (and hasn't been willing to upgrade programs)-hence the pending departure.

: : : A similar situation with different outcome with St Joseph in Lakewood-when SJB went into the Trinity League they didn't come along for the ride-hence there are now only 5 girls in the TL. Big mistake IMHO-Rosary (very similar school) did make the move with Servite and has had success at that level.

: : St. Lucy's could easily be placed in a separate, all private school league...but which league? The one with Alverno, San Gabriel Mission, and Ramona Convent? They would be the power in that league. Or with LaSalle, St. Josephs, St. Monica, St. Paul...like size schools, but the distances they have to drive. Also, how are they in the other sports against the Baseline league?

: According to the Mt. Sac Alignment Power rankings St. Lucy's as compared to all other schools girls sports in the baseline has never finished cumulatively higher than 5th. Basically they take the place finish of every sport, sum them, then take the average. Those numbers are then compared and placed in a ranking. In the last 4 years they finished 5th once, the other 3 years they finished 6th by a large margin.

if they was in the same league as Alverno or Ramona convent they would place 3rd or 4th. they barely beat Ramona convent by 2 points this past season. Ramona convent place 3rd in that league behind Scared Heart and Bishop Conaty. So it would be a better spot for them
