: : : : : : : Been a fan for awhile and posted about her potential last season. Well haters, she is killing it! Go Uconn!
: : : : : : She's a good player, not a great player. We get it, she can score, but what else can she do? She can't rebound. She can't defend? She might pass occasionally.
: : : : : Well she can play for perhaps the greatest coach there is and he speaks volumes about her. More awards to come.
: : : : How do you define a great coach? Lots of wins and championship with good to great players? Or a coach that can be competitive and win with no standout players but good players. Pat Summit did more with less talent. She was a great coach. Not sure Geno can win with less talented players.
: : : When Tennessee was in its prime, Coach Summit had great players and they flocked to her program. Not so much now. I wouldn't say she did more with less. Players from both programs praise Geno and Pat. Both are great coaches. When you build a great program, great players show up. It is what it is.
: : The fact is that neither Tennessee nor UConn was a program of any stature prior to Geno or Summit. The two coaches built everything there and deserve all the credit that comes with winning once they have talent, because they started from nothing. And, it's not like they're coaching at schools that are huge draws otherwise. Sure, you can compare and contrast the two, and your opinion may be that one is better than the other, but the margin is small, and the truth is that they are the two best coaches that women's basketball has seen, and the fact that they have coached talented players does nothing to take away from that.
: : I mean, John Wooden didn't win championships until he had talent either; he built the program from basically nothing. He deserves that respect.
: : Nobody wins championships without great talent.
: Will she be the greatest player to never win CIF?
After you leave high school and are part of winning NCAA championship(s). CIF is a afterthought for we people on public forums. So to answer your question, possibly.
