: : : Hire the best coaches for the kids. That's the right thing to do. Tired of this politically correct BS.
: : The problem isn't "politically correct BS." The problem is that men get hired over equally over even more qualified women. How many more girls coaching positions will be filled this spring by lower level boys coaches?
You are wrong. Not in women's or girls basketball. I have been coaching for 30 years and watched young, inexperienced woment get head coaching jobs right out the gate over men COUNTLESS times. And the fact is that women DO NOT GO FOR BOYS JOBS....EVER!!. That is why you don't see women getting hired as a boy's coach. Oakwood. a few years back, had a woman coaching their boys, if I recall, but women don't go for coaching positions. I have a freshman coach who is two years in, played no college ball, and she has been OFFERED head coaching jobs. I coached for 12 years before being considered for a head girls position..so your entire assumption is wrong. Until you go out and begin applying for these jobs, you will have no experience or even grounds to comment on it because you have no clue what you are talking about. These high schools are just waiting to hire women, and the do hire women..a lot of the times, just for the sake of her being a woman and without the coaching experience, they struggle and leave or get fired, that is why there is such a turnover in high school girls basketball coaching.
: : That's the real world right now. That needs to stop, and it only stops with a conscious effort by administrations and parent.
: : Walt's Dog
: This is 100% reality now. People need to realize it.
: Imagine the outcry if a JV Girls coach got a boys job.
: It will be interesting to see the reaction when Pop retires in San Antonio and Becky Hammon gets the Spurs job.
