There's always been an underlying bias against hiring women as coaches. A woman's credentials and interview abilities have to be better than a man's to get hired.

I think more committees should look to hire more women as the head coaches because otherwise they will continue to hire men at a higher rate.

In thirty something years of coaching, I couldn't keep track of how many times I've seen a boys frosh or JV coach hired as the head varsity girls coach. I've never seen that happen the other way around.

If I were hiring right now, I'd hire a woman for a girls head coaching job unless there was a man with markedly better credentials.
