: : Los Al girls basketball coach steps down. After losing 4 transfers in 3 years head coach decides to step down. Los Al has hired 4 coaches in the last decade. Im not sure the order but the last coach was there for the longest tenure. The one prior to him or maybe one before actually was a great fit, played in the Ivy league and was a credentialed teacher yet they wouldn't find him a job so he bolted for a school that would hire him as a teacher as well. Los Al has to wake up and make this coaching job with a teaching job.

: : The area is a gold mine, the school is being renovated , and they are finally building a second gym. Los Al can be a great place to play, and coach and live and teach but it doesn't seem like the admin gives two craps about its kids, truly. These coaches get the blame for everything but I dont blame a single one for their decision as Los
: : Al AD/ADMIN/DISTRICT have done nothing to alleviate the revolving door! If they hire another walk on the same thing will happen. Its sad to say that Los Al Girls basketball will be a MESS for years to come until the powers that be wakes UP!

: Los Alamitos girls basketball has always been a mess. They had one good coach, as you mentioned, who left for a better situation. They had the opportunity to hire other people who have since had success (CIF championships) but also would not offer a teaching position.

: The current coach gets credit for taking a bad job with a bad stipend and no support, but he also gets blame for being a terrible coach who also wasn't any kind of program leader. Allowed his "star" player(s) to run rampant, and their families to guide everything, including guiding them to a budget of nothing and not supporting lower level teams in the slightest. Not even a t-shirt. Hence, zero program building or sense of pride. And just a bad X/Os coach period.

: Bringing in out of district transfers. Losing them. Losing local players who didn't like the coach and the out of district girls.

: Now left with nothing. No coach, rumors of multiple transfers, no CIF championships, never really being competitive against higher level teams.

: Agree that there is potential, but not without support from the district/school and not without an actual coach who knows basketball and can build a foundation for a program, not just roll a ball out to a player or two and hope for the best.

: Too many other options for high caliber players, who are being circled by private school vultures.

Los Al is garbage and always has been.
