: : : Why does the CIF set the divisions BEFORE the season. Doesn't it make sense to form the divisions after the first 1/2 of league? Gives them about 2-3 weeks prior to get it right. Takes into account teams that graduate a handful of key players, would factor in injuries etc. Most teams are what they are and at this point in the season.

: : : MAKES ZERO SENSE to place teams into divisions prior. The FREEMAN rating was RIGHT ON when it was used. Why can't CIF find a FORMULA that works and includes some common sense?????

: : : .500 rule is WHACKED too!!!!!! Say you are pit into a league like the MISSION with HW / CHAMINADE / Alemany - 3 potential OPEN TEAMS = 0-6. You would have to schedule cream puffs to get to .500 which in turn doesn't prepare you for teams of that caliber. Its a JOKE!

: : Agree should be maxpreps final rankings. Why is CIF partners with Maxpreps if they're not going to use them?

:
: Can't simply use MaxPreps either. There are always issues with them, from early in the season to later.

:Exactly. The divisions should be set right before league starts in January. They should use the maxpreps rankings as well as SCIBCA to rank every school. The coaches will know who got transfers, who graduated their best players from the year before, who got incoming ninth grade studs and they can set the divisions then...much more accurately.
