: : : Tonight at the Duarte Tournament, Rowland will be matched up against Walnut. This game could go either way. Rowland has the top player in the area. It will be interesting to see what Walnut comes up with to slow her down. Walnut has been the most under rated in the SGV by the Tribune for the last 2 years. Should be a great game!
: : What a great game. Rowland won by 1 but the story was the gritty Walnut defense. Those little girls played their hearts out. The problem with the game was the refs were not qualified to work a game of this caliber. The Rowland center tackled walnut kids on three separate occasions and nothing was called. #14 Jenna Pitpit is a gamer. She was either carving up the Rowland defense for easy baskets or she was finding her teammates for wide open shots.
: : I was rooting for Walnut but I have to admit it was a great game even though we lost
: Game of caliber? Two average teams playing each other and you are trying to make these schools sound like they are Brea Olinda and Mater Dei. Please! These refs were probably more than qualified. Heck, even JV refs would be qualified to ref a game between Rowland and Walnut. Let me know when these schools and other schools from the SGV actually play a team that matters. Until that happens just stay quiet about the San Gabriel Valley.
This was a great game by 2 good teams. I agree that the officials were in over their heads. But I do have to say they were consistent. I don't think either team gained an advantage because of officiating.
POS, I'm sure you weren't at the game because of your comments. Comparing anyone to Brea or Mater Dei? Both those schools recruit players from outside their area (I know Mater Dei doesnn't have an area). How many Brea players actually live in Brea? The Rowland and Walnut programs are build on kids actually live in those areas. Some people just have to throw salt. Why can't you say nice game and move on.
