: : : : Tonight at the Duarte Tournament, Rowland will be matched up against Walnut. This game could go either way. Rowland has the top player in the area. It will be interesting to see what Walnut comes up with to slow her down. Walnut has been the most under rated in the SGV by the Tribune for the last 2 years. Should be a great game!
: : : Tribune top 10
: : : What do you think about the top 10 rankings in the SGV by the Tribune?
: : : 1. Rowland
: : : 2. Diamond Bar
: : : 3. Covina
: : : 4. Duarte
: : : 5. Walnut
: : : 6. Los Altos
: : : 7. Glendora
: : : 8. West Covina
: : : 9. South Hills
: : : 10. Bonita
: : Glendora under rated, in my opinion. Seen them play. Los Altos a bit too high , I would put glendora at 5 at this point .. walnut hasn't played anyone good yet , except for tonight vs. Rowland .. and looks like glendora beat canyon , and Burroughs , and played tough vs. Santa Margarita
: The game was close the entire time. Rowland up 4 after the 1st qtr, Tied at halftime and end of 3rd Qtr. Rowland won 51-50. Walnut had the ball with 5.9 seconds left and had the ball stolen while driving to the basket.
Walnut coach lost the game or at least she blew the best chance to win. She called a time out with 13 seconds left in the game down 1. She got the ball in and had the Rowland defense spread out and the ball in the hands of her guard who had been getting to the basket the entire game. But she called another time out with 5.8 seconds and not only gave Rowland a chance to reset, she allowed them to pack the defense in and deny the drive to the middle. The Walnut guard actually got to the middle but the Rowland player was able to tip the ball away.
Talk about over coaching You need to learn when to leave well enough alone and let the players play.
