: : : : According to this forum, if you work at a public aka ghetto school you are no good to your kids or society. If you coach or work at a public school you do not challenge your kids academically. Basically, public schools have dumb teachers, students, athletes, janitors, parents, principals, and gardeners. You cannot compete with private aka "The Good Schools" so don't even try.

: : : : The Tough Guy says this is NONSENSE. Don't Believe the Hype!

Hey Tough Guy, let's bring it back to reality. Public schools are ok here in America, as is public health care. Private schools, however, without question, typically provide a better education overall with a higher percentage of kids moving on to better colleges. Private school teachers are held accountable for the results in the classroom and can be fired, private institutions are more likely to respond to parental feedback, private schools also have larger budgets which provide for a better educational environment, and discipline in private schools can remove jerky kids from the classroom. Just like medicine, you can go to the free clinic and get taken care of, sort of, or you can pay a little extra and get a doctor who cares. Now this is a basketball forum and basketball is very important to us all, so, what's the difference between private and public basketball schools? Typically, private schools provides a more dedicated coaching environment as the coach is paid more (Windward, Chaminade, Mater Dei, Harvard Westlake etc...) These coaches, mostly, are able to spend more time in the gym with the girls and usually produce excellent programs. Of course, Long Beach Poly always throws a wrench in the system as they usually produce a top team as well for the public side of things. Probably because of 1. Great coaching and 2. Large student body that's heavily basketball oriented by tradition.

So, Tough Guy, don't be so negative, nobody's saying public school sucks, we're just saying the education is better in a private environment. VERY FEW would argue. If a parent has the oppurtunity to send their kid to a private school at no charge because of basketball, then they would be foolish to pass on the opportunity to "upgrade" their kids' education.

: : : Cocaine is a powerful drug. This has been a Public Service Announcement. Now carry on...

: The fact that your name is "The Tough Guy" says enough. You called public schools ghetto, no one else. Stay away from drugs dude!
