: : : A couple weeks into season, so here is first shot at potential City Section Open Division:
: : : 1. Palisades - still the team to beat
: : : 2. El Camino Real - good and improving team playing brutal schedule
: : : 3. Granada Hills - steady but hasn't really played anyone yet
: : : 4. Fairfax - transfer from Price could move them up next month
: : : 5. Carson - some nice pieces and coach has them playing hard
: : : 6. Legacy - need to beat a good team
: : : 7. View Park - like what coach is doing; needs more good players
: : : 8. Westchester/Birmingham/Narbonne - fighting it out to lose to Pali in first round.
: : : I will try to update every week or so.
: : Pali is winning city, El camino doesn't match up well against them. Like Granada to make it to the finals this year.
: While I agree I think Pali will win City again, I don't think it is as sure a thing.
: After watching El Camino in Redondo tourney, they are a different team this year. Pali killed them with press last year. Neither Windward nor Chaminade were able to press them last week. Not sure if Harvard Westlake pressed them last night.
: And Pali doesn't have height this year either.
: So I think Pali will win but I don't think it will be a 20 point blowout like last year.
:: Won't be a blowout definitely. Pali vs Troy was a hard fought win for Pali against a powerhouse SS team. Gipson played with four fouls and Kayla Williams was the high scorer with 20. She's really coming up to speed quickly!
Pali doesn't have height this year either true, but once the PRESS comes together, they will be difficult to beat. Still working on chemistry, and their rotation, as are all the teams.
MUCH more parity this year however, across ALL the teams, SS or LAC.
