: : : What do you coaches think about this idea? If you schedule a bunch of patsies and join tournaments with a bunch of lower level teams. But then you play a legit team like Windward/Mater Dei/Harvard Westlake etc and get blown out. Would that help your strength of schedule in order to get a better playoff seeding?
: : What's the use of being seeded #1 if you don't get home court throughout the playoffs. Why would a top seeded team have to travel 100 miles for a playoff game? Makes no sense at all. Yeah you might get a patsy in the 1st round at home but then you have to go on the road to potentially play a # 8 seed which is probably a decent team.
: You always (theoretically) want to be seeded higher as you will always play a lower seeded team than a team seeded below you.
: SS alternates home/away for revenue and "fairness" issues.
: My view is higher seed should get home game all the time.
I disagree, while not in HS hoops anymore, the way the leagues are set up, with multiple divisions in the same league, there are some teams that could be the best team in their division, but because they played in a league with teams that were all stronger from higher divisions their overall record would suffer, thus they would have an artificially lower seed than their ability vs their division competition would warrant. They are already penalized because of league placement for seeding, they shouldn't be further penalized by not having a home game.
