: : : Now that there are ten divisions/finals as opposed to eleven, it would be great if CIF could go back and play all the girls finals at one site, like they used to do at the Pyramid. Play three of the games on Friday (at 4 PM, 6 PM and 8 PM) then the other seven throughout the day on Saturday. Use one central location for all the girls finals, even if playing at multiple sites fits fine for the boys' divisions.

: : : I think the Galen Center at USC would be an ideal location for the CIF Girls Basketball Finals. It is centrally located and a great facility. Though the 10,000 capacity could be too small for a "Chino Hills of 2016"-like boys final, it would be ideal for the girls games. It's bigger and more arena-like than the Pyramid, without being too big like the Honda Center.

: : : I know that CIF is trying to increase attendance and that there are good reasons to spread out the games to different locations. I just think that it would be a good idea to centralize the girls games to one site and maybe spread the boys games out to 2 or 3 places. I don't know if its a good idea to alternate girls and boys games as is occurring this year at all the sites. This makes it difficult for girls fans to watch multiple girls games at a site and boys fans to do the same.

: : Stupid misguided title-9 rules are now forcing them to be played at same venues

: Title 9 says they must have equal access and opportunity not identical venues. Please explain to me why Title 9 would prevent girls from being able to play games at one site.

Title IX has nothing to do with this. If girls have the same opportunity to compete in basketball as the boys do (that is schools offer both sports to both genders) and provide relatively comparable funding and opportunities to compete, then Title IX is satisfied.

For CIF-SS this is all about money and having fans pay to watch four sets of four games, all played at different (but low cost) venues. That's why they are using high schools and small college venues instead of renting out a single venue and using it over two days.

A venue like the Galen Center (or Pauley) would be great, but CIF isn't going to get that venue during the heart of Pac-12 play; Staples is too expensive; there is no more Sports Arena, and my guess is that the Honda Center is now too expensive also (or booked with NHL hockey). Anaheim Convention Center was not a very good venue, so what's left now? APU, Cal Baptist, Godinez HS and Colony. Not many really good venues or choices.

Next year CIF might want to think about using LA Southwest College; it's not huge, but bigger than most of the venues they are currently using, and much closer for most of the teams from LA than any of this year's venues.
