: : : : : : : Did anyone see the game ? i saw they posted score on maxpreps which was 65-46 windward won. did anyone got o the game ? any info on el camino ? are they as strong as last season ?

: : : : : : El Camino is a good city section team. Osborne was stellar tonight and she dominated the entire game.

: : : : : Windward was up 12-20 most of the game, wasn't very close.

: : : : Stayed to watch this game to see El Camino as we play them soon.

: : : : Windward jumped out to early lead, but ECR cut lead to around five and stayed in the 5-12 range rest of half.

: : : : Second half lead did get up to the 12-20 range, but El Camino cut it to 12 in fourth but then took some desperation shots and then gave up points on the other end.

: : : : It was one of those "your still in it but you aren't really games" for ECR.

: : : : Charisma Osborne is another level of player and only a sophomore. She didn't miss a shot until the fourth quarter and was all over the passing lanes.

: : : : Windward was clearly the better team, but I thought El Camino did well and is clearly a serious City title contender.

: : : : Let's see how they do vs. Chaminade on Friday.

: : : Pali has their number, no chance El Camino beats them this year. Pali destroyed them the last two years and have a lot of their players back.

: : I can't buy into high school teams "having their number" vs. another high school team. Too much turnover of players, coaches, etc. in general for that to be the case. If anything, that situation would happen with a league opponent not someone you may play once a year in a playoff situation.

: : I agree Pali is certainly the team to beat, but they actually lost a lot of players (though Gipson and Willams are back). I have seen El Camino several times over the summer, fall and last night vs. Windward and they looked pretty good.

: : They are playing Chaminade Friday and Harvard Westlake next week; let's see how those games go.

: You'll found out a lot about that team in the next week

:: I agree. In league play, perhaps.
Anyway, Pali returns seniors Pickett and Gipson, plus soph Williams - three of the five starters from last year's team which blew through the city last year, though admittedly they did lose elite scorer Gillette, post Newman and guard Spainer. Even so, don't really a ton of "drop off" - time will tell? They usually start off slow, but then come Jan. can be brutal with the press on defense and formidable on offense (scoring). Having watched most of the teams at the Pali tourney - seems ALL the teams are down from last year (SS as well as City). Much more parity this year, across the board. A couple of "upsets" early on. Oaks Christian is down. Fairmont Prep is ridiculously good, as is Chaminade...even with the loss of Odom, Higgins, it's all relative. Serra is also looking great. HW has those twins, who just dominate in on the inside! One of my favorite players is Osborne at Windward. She's asserting herself and is rising up as a true elite So. Cal. player. LBP is stellar, as always. This is gonna be a fun year.

:: I'm going out a limb and making my annual "way too early" predictions

Let's try these for 2016/2017:

SS: Windward over LBP in the open, led by Osborne who is going to really develop even more and come out spectacular.

City: Pali b-a-r-e-l-y over El Camino in their open

Both are going to be CLOSE games - no blowouts here.
