: : Iíve been a big supporter of public school girls basketball for over 10 years and have to say that the talent in the city is the worst itís been in a very long time. We need to keep at our local public schools or the talent will continue to drop. No easy answers.

:
: Itís hard when the top public schools in the City (Granada, ECR, Birmingham) are down the street from Chaminade, Alemany, Harvard Westlake, and SC. You have the private school Assistant Coaches or parents of current players recruiting kids from local club teams to go to private schools. So, the public schools in the valley donít get top talented kids. I donít have much info about the LA schools but i do know that some of those LA schools have club coaches on their staffs. So, they will always be fine and they have the refs of their side when they play a valley team in the semis. So, they will be ok. City section basketball is sadly gonna be 100% awful in the next two years unless something changes but that wont happen. Kids would rather go to a private school not just for basketball but for education. Class sizes and quality of teachers are better at private schools and that sells to families.

: So, sorry to say...City Section basketball wont get better it will get worse as time goes on.

: Itís bad. I have not seen ONE pretty good player in the City and that is very sad. Unless any city team goes division 5, all of them will not only be eliminated in the first round of state, they will be blown out the water.
