: : : : Last week of regular season!

: : : : With the strike ending, it seems many teams are playing 3 or even four games this week.

: : : : Here is the way I see the City seeding the teams right now. It doesn't mean these are the best 1-8, but how they are seeded, which has to take into account head to head, league champions and standings, etc.

: : : :
: : : : 1. Granada Hills - they are 1 until someone in the City beats them. ECR could, and maybe Birmingham might, but I doubt it in either case.
: : : : 2. Westchester - they go to 2 as they beat Narbonne the other day. I still think Narbonne is better, but in the meeting, it's going to come down to theat.
: : : : 3. Narbonne - drop to 3 after loss to Westchester. Semi's rematch awaits!
: : : : 4. El Camino - how do you lose to Birmingham on Friday, then beat Brentwood on Saturday? I don't think even beating GH Wednesday can get them above 4. A blowout loss might even drop them to 5 (but I doubt it).
: : : : 5. Eagle Rock - just sitting back and taking it all in. Taking care of their business and getting ready for playoffs, probably a rematch of last year's first round game at ECR.
: : : : 6. Birmingham - I would argue they should be 5, but they are still probably placed 3rd in West Valley league, and hard to put that ahead of a league champ in Eagle Rock.
: : : : 7. Hamilton - loss to Palisades drops them and sets up first round vs. league rival Westchester.
: : : : 8. ????? - This spot is up for grabs. I see it between Legacy, Palisades, and Cleveland. I think it will be Legacy, but do they want to be in Open? They may campaign to stay in D1. Cleveland is going to be 4th in West Valley League, so I see it as a long shot. Which means Palisades may sneak in. The various games this week will tell the tale.

: : : : Big games:

: : : : Monday - Westchester at Palisades (Pali win and they are in for sure)
: : : : Wednesday - Granada at El Camino (ECR needs a good game to stay at 4)
: : : : Wednesday - Hamilton at Westchester
: : : : Wednesday - Cleveland at Birmingham
: : : : Friday - Birmingham at Granada Hills

: : : :
: : : : Will update later in week after some of these games.

: : : :
: : : : Should be a fun week!

: : : : Not sure why but ECR coach didn't play Khalfani the entire 1st quarter. They had a poor start and never recovered. Not smart in a big league game. Birmingham got the W from it :)

: : Maybe she broke a team rule, didn't attend a practice before or some other disciplinary issue.
: : Good coaches don't care about starting players if they aren't following team rules - its life lessons that matter!

: It's great to see coaches do it and not care about the win , hope that's what's happening at Alemany.

Agree completely. Life lessons, and message to other players/parents about priorities of the program. I remember what John Wooden said when Bill Walton told him he was his own man and he should be able to wear his hair as long as he wanted. (Paraphrasing here) I agree, Bill, you should be able to wear your hair any way you want. We'll miss having you on the team, though.
