: : : : Everything is up in the air because of the LAUSD strike, but putting that aside here is a current Open Division potential list:

: : : : 1. Granada Hills - still putting them at 1 for now; tough game with rival ECR on Wednesday
: : : : 2. Narbonne - nice win over Foothill Tech. Their big girl has improved and their style of play gives other teams nightmares.
: : : : 3. El Camino - Now that Khalfani is playing, they have the top player in the Section. I would flip them with Granada if they win on Wednesday.
: : : : 4. Westchester - good squad; really rounds out a Top 4 nicely for the playoffs.
: : : : 5. Hamilton - I'll admit I wasn't a believer early on, but this team can play.
: : : : 6. Eagle Rock - I keep doubting, but they are always well prepared and make the most of their talent.
: : : : 7. Birmingham - not at the level of the top teams, but right there in second tier.
: : : : 8. Legacy - No one wants to be the 8 seed, but Legacy deserves it's shot.

: : : :
: : : : Unfortunately, only GH, ECR, and Birmingham (along with Palisades) is still practicing/playing. So their games with each other or out of section games are the only results that will be coming.

: : : : The GH-ECR game on Wednesday should be a good one.

: : : : Did anyone see Khalfani play the other day? ECR had a game against Birmingham. I see that they won.

:
: : She dominated the first half, scoring in a variety of ways and doing some board work and a few nice assists. Ended up with 27 points.

: : Got into some foul trouble and it looked like a little tired in second half. No doubt not playing games in 14 months and the adrenaline rush contributed to both of those situations.

: : Let's see how she does on Wednesday vs. Granada Hills. I'm sure they will have a game plan to slow her down. I saw GH coach at game filming it.

: Looks like the coach just need players to pass the ball to Khalfani and she does the rest. good luck vs Granada. Granada +15

I would say a more realistic line is GH -7.5

Granada is the smarter team and runs their system like no one else. ECR has to limit Berfield's open looks and not let her go off like last year. Also, they need to stop the back door cut action GH runs.

However, GH is going to have to scheme for Khalfani as no one on their squad can defend her one-on-one and stop her. And if they key on her too much, then Saidoff or Camua (sp? #24) can score in bunches if left alone.

Should be a good game.
