: : : : : : : : I am reading a lot of comments about playoffs and a couple marque matchups here and there. My question is, out of all the “Div 1/Open” teams who has the toughest LEAGUE? I am not familiar with the different leagues and it’s individual teams but interesting to know your thoughts who actually has the toughest road prior to playoffs?

: : : : : : : Trinity League went to one round of games (both boys/girls) in order for the lower end to be able to finish over .500. I believe the Mission League did likewise.

: : : : : : This year the toughest League by far is the Gold Coast League featuring the top 2 teams in the Section in Sierra Canyon and Windward. Brentwood isn't bad either and a long shot for Open but they are on the list. It varies year to year but its safe to say the Trinity and Gold Coast are well represented each year.

: : : : : Usually the Mission League would be toughest with Chaminade, Harvard Westlake, and Alemany fighting it out every year and then all three making Open.

: : : : : All three teams are still good but down from the last few years to the point where none are probably going Open this year. Marlborough is also solid this year and will be a factor in their Division come playoffs.

: : : : : To above poster, Mission League only went to one game per team on boys side only. Girls still play twice (which makes sense with the big 3).

: : : : : So normally I would say Mission League, but this year I am going Gold Coast with Windward and Sierra Canyon and with the rise of Brentwood this season. If they don't go Open (bubble right now), they are heavy favorites in their Division to bring home a ring.

: : : : Brentwood has the record but strength in schedule is low. They haven't beaten anyone solid so far this season. Won against HW but they only have Kiki this season unlike last year. Won against Marlborough that's on the rise in Mission but that team also has low strength in schedule, wins against GH and recently against Alemany are nice but both teams were missing key starters.

: : : : But Brentwood should finished 3rd behind Windward and Sierra which will make them CIF playoff qualified but I won't put them in the Open, Div1 the most. If they are placed in Div2 then they have a great shot at winning CIF.

: : : : The one to watch is Mission league on which 3 will auto advance to CIF. The usual 3 are Nade, Alemany and HW. But Marlborough, although weak schedules, has the record and win over Alemany.

: : : : Marlborough has good shot at making top 3 if they win tonight against Nade. It won't be an easy task playing at Nade's home. But coming out with a W will put them up there with the big 3. We'll find out tonight if Marborough is legit which I truly think they are.

: : : : Match up to keep an eye on is Montgomery of Marlborough and Whitfield of Nade, both are solid inside the paint.

: : : HW is improving every game. The are young, so with each game, they are gaining valuable experience, teamwork and leveling up. #7 or 8 seed but that game vs SC or Windward will be earned, nothing to be ashamed of making Open even if overmatched in game 1.

: Hw and alemany have injuries to key players. If they survive those they got a shot at 8 seed in open. quick exit though! Mission league WIDE open.

Harvard Westlake is not even on the Open watch list so they will not be in it. Maybe next year.
