: : : : Well all you SC huggers?
: : : : Now that SC lost to UCLA and then UCLA beat ranked Cal, any credit where credit is due?
: : : : If nothing else, UCLA is continuing to improve as the season progresses. And coach Close continues to focus on building strong young women.
: : : Her substitution patterns have also improved. Let's see what happens at Stanford.
: : Choked in big game against Stanford. The under performance continues in big games.
: Close's TEAM looks much better without Canada. Did she rely too much on her and wasn't able to coach her? Right now, they're playing smarter and looser and look miles better than they did at the loss to LMU. I hope Close can pull it off because this is going to be a real test of her coaching prowess.
: USC is struggling badly because of chemistry problems. One senior may not be with the team for much longer.
No hate on Coach Close. Everyone knows/says she is a wonderful person who cares tremendously about her players on and off the court.
The issue that came up after last season was her contract was up, so the question was should UCLA extend her or go get another coach?
My stance was if you want a coach to compete for National Championships and be in that conversation every year, then go get someone else.
With Coach Close, UCLA will be competitive in the Pac 12, and contend for league title every now and then. Their players will graduate, and there will be no scandals.
So, no hate. Just what does UCLA want for their program? I actually said they would probably keep her (which they did without much fanfare) because the school just wants players to graduate and not have any problems. Being good/competitive is a bonus for them.
