: : : : : : : : : : : : : : Lots of talk about her transfer being a huge blow to MD but is she a six foot guard, an undersized 4 or both. Will her skills translate at the next level, as she has offers from almost all the Pac schools.

: : : : : : : : : : : : : The answer is "very good". When she got hurt in their semifinal against Windward they were in the game; it went downhill rather fast after that.

: : : : : : : : : : : : What is her game like? She's something of a widebody but she moves very quickly and efficiently and she's very tall and also plays inside.

: : : : : : : : : : : Has the ability to play guard and be productive in the post. I think she is the best sophomore (she is not a hold back) in California and top 5 in any class. BM was a good move for her as she will be able to showcase her full game under Quinn.

: : : : : : : : : : So why did she leave MD if she's that good?

: : : : : : : : : Not a good fit Iím assuming. Making sure she gets the most out of her high school experience in the class and on the court. Itís better to leave too early as opposed to leaving too late.

: : : : : : : : True, it's never to late to leave a toxic situation but leaving early is always better.

: : : : : : : First time I saw her play was on Cal Sparks 15U team as a sixth grader and she did really well for age. Again at the USC basketball camp a year later and she got the MVP for middle schoolers along with Ayana Clark for HS. That same summer she received a scholarship offer to USC.

: : : : : : Both Pepe and Paopao have offers from the Trojans. If they land these two in consecutive classes combined with their excellent 2019 class, they might really leave UCLA in the dust and keep USC the top Southland program for a long time to come.

: : : : : Trakh has done a really good job of stabilizing that program. Got some good transfers and recruiting last year and this year is solid too, including establishing a pipeline with Cal Stars. Plus, he is just a better coach than Close.

: : : : : The Pac 12 is a beast right now, and both LA schools are only in the middle right now. USC is the one with a chance to move to upper tier in the next couple of years.

: : : : The Oregon schools might be a lot more vulnerable than previously thought and if Ionescu leaves for the W after this season, they've lost their trademark. OSU's poor showing against Texas A&M says Rueck has a lot more work to do. Stanford is the one that should dominate with the monster class coming in next year. USC still hasn't played anyone so they have to play very, very well in conference to make the tournament this year.

: : : I'll believe it when I see it. USC has never been a factor in recent years. Lets not put the cart in front of the horse please.

: : There are several programs in that middle area. I think Cal and ASU deserve higher consideration because of their schedule but USC and Utah could both jump into a more surprising spot. UCLA is one school that seems in serious trouble because of recruiting and especially coaching.

: There are probably 6 teams going to the tourney out of the Pac 12 unless teams like USC just flounder in conference play.

: My current rankings:

: 1. Oregon
: 2. Stanford
: 3. Oregon State
: 4. ASU
: 5. Cal
: 6. USC
: 7. UCLA
: 8. Washington
: 9. Colorado
: 10. Utah
: 11. Arizona
: 12. Washington State

: Rising teams going forward - USC, Cal, Washington

: Falling teams - UCLA, Oregon (but only from elite to really good if Ionescu leaves).

: Bottom line - Pac 12 women's ball is as strong as Pac 12 men's ball is weak. The men could easily only have 1-2 teams in tourney. Sad.

1. Stanford
2. Oregon
3. Oregon St.
4. ASU
5. Cal
6. USC
7. Utah
9. Arizona
12. WSU

If Stanford can hit those 3s the way they did against Tennessee today, they're tough to beat. Oregon has trouble against fast, athletic teams and the loss of McGwire hurts them more than originally thought. OSU needs to find a way to get some production out of their bigs and if Slocum struggles, they're in trouble. The next five could play musical chairs or they could challenge for the Top 3 spots. In the future, Cal is in huge trouble after Anigwe leaves this season. We're talking last three. They have to make their move this year. Arizona should rise with their excellent recruiting and McDonald.
