: : : Now that we are into Dec the open teams are separating from the pack. Finding a 7th and 8th team is going to be difficult because the will lose to the 1st and 2nd ranked teams by 20 or more. Cif may do what they did in tennis open and only take 6 teams for the same reason being competitive.

: : : In no order first 6 teams:

: : : Windward
: : : Mater Dei
: : : Sierra Canyon
: : : Bishop Montgomery (tough when Pepe joins)
: : : Rosary (4 transfers need to be placed in open)
: : : Etiwanda

: : : Next few teams for 7 and 8

: : : Redondo
: : : Harvard Westlake
: : : Centennial
: : : Alemany

: : : Thoughts???

: : They are taking 8 teams whether you like it or not. This year's Open is a quaranteed 4 game round robin tourney with all teams getting a State Berth. Why wouldn't all want to play?

: Here is what CIF sent out in season preview for basketball

: CIF-SS BASKETBALL OPEN DIVISION
: Selection of Open Division Teams:
: Up to 8 teams will be chosen at the end of the regular season for the CIF-SS Open Division.

: Key words is UP to 8.

: Not sure want to see blow-outs

I agree with your top 6. By the time the season plays out you'll see Poly, Serra and Redondo, maybe even Troy as the top candidates for the last two Open spots. That's assuming everyone stays healthy of course.

Let's stop the nonsense about King please, at least until they beat someone good.
