: : : : : I have a question and I felt there was no better place then to ask it here ...... Is it a high school coach’s job to get their players to the next level of play I ask that because in my county the coaches are very content with the players going to the local jucos to the point that they don’t even try to get there players looks ...... Ive seen a good amount of players just in the last few years that I thought could go to a 4 year school that either stopped playing or just Wined up at the local Juco ..... is it it the “club” coaches job to get them to the next level

: : : :
: : : : It's the players job.

: : : : Now, obviously, they need help, but if they want to play in college, they need to let their coaches - high school, club, private trainer, etc. - know, and ask them if they can/will help them.

: : : : Now, many high school coaches don't have college contacts, but if they know the player wants to continue playing, they can work them harder or maybe expand their practice/training/development to assist with that.

: : : : Because, in the end, the high school coach's job is to win games and run a clean program and make sure their players are eligible.

: : : : Should they do more? Maybe. Many do. But some don't and/or can't.

: : : : It's up to the player (and their family of course) to drive the process. But they should be asking for help from whoever will give it to them because it's a nasty process for all but the very elite (and even for them sometimes.)

: : : So should said coach that can’t and or won’t do more be upset when a player starts to place her club team and practices with priority over her high school team because her goals can only be reached with working more with her club team ??

: : A High School Coaches Job is not to win games. It is to run a clean program and help kids improve their skills. Any Coach can win, just play poorly skilled teams. You see it everyday. These are bad coaches that don't challenge their players. Then when they play a decent team, they lose.

: A good high school coach will have your daughter make their team a priority during high school season and their club team priority in club season. Especially if they play on a elite team. A good coach cares more about their girls going to a good college than winning summer league games.

: The Chino Hills coach plays really weak teams and never challenges his team or helps them improve. He also demands the high school team be a priority even during club season. His summer program doesn’t include training and he plays in super weak tournaments. It’s sad what he does with this program.
