: : : : : : I've had the pleasure of seeing these great teams play over the summer and fall. If you're a fan of the game, these teams dont disappoint:
: : : : : : Etiwanda. Athleticism everywhere.
: : : : : : MLK. Fun to watch like a well oiled machine
: : : : : : Centennial. Fast paced and physical.
: : : : : : Cajon. Not as good as the top teams, but still very athletic.
: : : : : : Did I miss any?
: : : : : I love Etiwanda. They have the perfect combination of guard play and posts. They're an open team. The best team in the Inland Empire. They looked strong in the WCP games.
: : : : : Watching ML King play is fun. Combination of great coaching and good players. High D1 team, but not quite open-bound. Wins over Etiwanda and Keppel puts them as the 2nd best in the Inland Empire.
: : : : : Centennial is very similar to last year. Not too impressed with how a few players have developed. With very few strong teams in the area, they are 3rd. They looked good at the WCP as well.
: : : : : I know how these sites can get, so I'll end this by saying these are my opinions only.
: : : : I saw Etiwanda play ML King 3 weeks ago and beat them by 17 points. Wasnt even close. Etiwanda is Heads above King. Top team in the IE for sure. They play a mixture of up tempo and execution of their sets. Relentless on Defense.
: : :
: : : Etiwanda as usual has the most and best talent by far.
: : : However, their style of play can bite them. They only play one way, one speed. And if they get the wrong refs and get in foul trouble, they can run into problems against other top teams.
: : : Definitely going to Open in February along with Windward, Sierra Canyon, Mater Dei, Bishop Montgomery, etc.
: : Etiwanda had the most talent last year. But their coach is god awful. Mr hat is a drop-off from last coach
: ^^^here we go with the trash talk against Etiwanda coach, happens every year. Just know some people in here have issues with the coach because either their girl couldnt make one of his teams or their kids HS team was destroyed by etiwanda. Etiwanda coach is very knowledgeable and is dedicated to his girls. Some people just have their own personal hang ups and need to get a life.
The "You're just mad because you didn't cut it at Etiwanda or you got beat down by them" excuse is very weak considering Etiwanda isn't the juggernaut that they claim to be.
Etiwanda has consistently had more D1 talent than any of the IE teams, yet all of that talent has only resulted is Baseline league championships and a few CIF runner up placings. They've never gotten the job done. I mean, one year they had 5 starters who would go on to D1 players, plus 2 reserves who would go on to D1, and still couldn't win. 7 D1 players. That's just mind-boggling.
Meanwhile, with less talent, several other schools around Etiwanda have won CIFSS championships. Summit, Los Osos, Rialto, AB Miller, Fontana, and Alta Loma all have one or more CIF banners hanging in their gym.
In regards to the coach...let's not forget that this is a man who was forced to quit the Canyon coaching job for being involved with having ineligible players on his team. And not just a little involved...he helped to transport one of the players to school.
No hate. Just facts and reality.
