: : : : : : : : : : : : : : : There is a future star that is transferring. She will be a sophomore.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : : OK dad, let us know where your daughter is transferring.
: : : : : : : : : : : : : If she wasn’t a star as freshman she’s more than likely not going to be star as sophomore unless she’s transferring to a division 5A school. So please do tell.
: : : : : : : : : : : : I heard that Kylie Pepe who was a star as a freshman at Mater Dei has transferred to Bishop Montgomery... Not sure if its true or a rumor?
: : : : : : : : : : : : Im sure there are more. The transfer season is among us.
: : : : : : : : : : :
: : : : : : : : : : : Good for her, MD is all about Demietre for the next 3 years.
: : : : : : : : : : :Not surprised, she got no respect from Coach K. She and everyone else are just supporting cast to what they think is the next KLS. This what happens when you take someone for granted. They will bounce.
: : : : : : : : : The inside word is that Coach K wasn't impressed with her poor shooting and her me-first approach. Let's see if it plays out different at BM. She's a big active body but I think it's premature to call her a star.
: : : : : : Kyle is a great player and a great kid. She had a very good freshmen year and she will continue to get better. So your inside words are all wrong. Kevin
: : : : : :
: : : : : : : : Thanks for your input Mr. Demietre. Just a reminder that Samuelson never won a CIF championship at Mater Dei and neither will Demietre.
: : : : : : : ...then BM is a force with Pepe, Kayla Padilla and Kayla Williams. That's three high level players and they have some solid returning role players.
: : : : : Pepe is more skilled than Demietre and will be the better player when its all said and done. I didn't like the fact that Pepe wasn't the main focal point at MD. She's the real deal. Tough loss MD if true, hard pill to swallow.
: : : : Actually the offense ran through Torbert. Torbert Demetre and Pepe all got 300 or more shots so it was evenly distributed among those three. All three were named Co MVP
: : : When its all said and done...Pepe will be a studmuffin but both will do damage at the D1 level.
: : This is coming from a guy that has no Credentials, pops up out of nowhere this year with a camera, twitter account, and that also thinks Alemany's backcourt is really good. C'mon buddy, be real.
: : Pepe is legit. Demetre is legit. Both great kids that made a huge impact at Mater Dei in different ways. Like the above poster said, the offense ran through Torbert. All 3 players shot 300+ shots, so get your facts straight. Pepe and Demetre wtih Crocker will be a force to be reckoned with next year if they stay together and are healthy. Pepe and Demetre could make some huge noise together for their jr and senior campaigns, they are two of the top freshmen in the state and country.
: : What sucks is people/parents start all these rumors about the players and coaches because they just want to talk out of their butts. I'll tell you one thing, the MD coaches don't want to see her go and neither do her teammates.

First let me say I appreciate the efforts you make for the young men and women of the So Cal hoops scene. I have seen your pics and videos, and I think if you hooked up with the right people (high schools and clubs), you could do very well with it. And while I think a lot of your evaluations are off, or too extreme, every evaluation is only an opinion.
The fact you played on a good high school team 30 years ago and had a nice college career doesn't automatically mean you can evaluate current high school talent, especially on the girls side. It is much the same as good players don't always make good coaches (See Magic Johnson).
As for this poster asking for credentials, that is crazy. There are no "credentials" for this line of work. There is no "evaluator" degree.
That being said, a reputation can be earned with college coaches for finding quality players for their programs. And those guys are out there. They are the ones at the viewing tourneys that all the coaches come up to. They ask them about players because they are the people who know the kids personally and can help facilitate the recruiting process. These are the guys that have been following the kids' development since the 6th grade. They know who is playing at what high school and which club team - and which of those teams are successful. They know when kids are transferring before anyone but their families. Are they right all the time? No, of course not. But they have a track record with college coaches locally and across the country.
Maybe you are one of those guys too. I have no clue. I'm just saying that's what is important, not your own basketball talent when it comes to having respected evaluations.
And as for not being able to get a job - I'm assuming you are talking about a coaching job - I know every year there are City Section schools constantly looking for coaches. Especially for the girls teams. Are they good programs? No. Do they pay well? Not even close. But they are out there every year and you have to start somewhere if that is your goal. Make something of a bad program and better jobs will come your way.
